The Ukrainian Women’s League visits Fundacja Jestem: a friendly visit and exchange of experience
During a working trip to Warsaw, the head of the Ukrainian Women’s League, Orystlava Sydorchuk, paid a friendly visit to the Fundacja Jestem organization, which provides support to cancer patients undergoing treatment or rehabilitation.
Ms. Orystlava shared the experience of the Foundation and spoke about the activities of the Ukrainian Women’s League.
The Fundacja Jestem Foundation was established in 2012 as a result of many years of supporting people through illness and the desire to support them in difficult experiences related to the disease.
Isabella Dembinska, President of the Foundation, spoke about the peculiarities of conducting activities for community members: "When we learn about the disease, our lives often change from day to day. Sometimes we lose our jobs. Family and social life begins to revolve around the hospital, and getting to services or cultural meetings becomes a challenge. We are facing a new face of life and moments of loneliness. That is why our task is to help revive hope and joy for healing at every stage of the disease."
As part of their stay at the Center, the community engages in psychological counseling, physical activity, and even plant care, cooking lunch, and during these activities they recover from exhausting treatment. People accompanying patients also take part in the classes.
"NGOs and initiative groups are one of the driving forces in helping various segments of the population today. The events and initiatives created by the Foundation inspire not only Warsaw associations, but also public organizations in Ukraine. It was a pleasure to get acquainted with the experience of Fundacja Jestem and share our own achievements with colleagues. Thank you for the warm meeting and fruitful dialog," said Orystlava Sydorchuk, Head of the Ukrainian Women’s League.
