All-Ukrainian project "KALINA" has been launched
On May 11, 2023, the All-Ukrainian project "Kalyna" was launched by the All-Ukrainian NGO Union of Ukrainian Women. It is dedicated to Mother's Day and aims to preserve the viburnum as one of the beautiful symbols of Ukraine, which enters our consciousness from our mother's lullaby.
The project was created on the initiative of the Honorary Chairman of the Union of Ukrainian Women Oreslava Khomyk, the head of the city district NGO "Union of Ukrainian Women of Drohobych Region" Lesia Protsyk and an ally Iryna Tymechko.
In each community where there is a branch of the NGO Union of Ukrainian Women, a viburnum will be planted, and a sign with a QR code will be installed nearby, which will allow you to learn more about the activities of the Union of Ukrainian Women.
The first viburnum within the project was planted by Drohobych women in the village of Nahuyevychi (a village in Drohobych district, Lviv region) near the monument to Ivan Franko on the territory of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Nahuyevychi". We are grateful to the director of the reserve, Bohdan Lazorak, for his support of the project and his kind words about the Ukrainian women's movement, the Union of Ukrainian Women. The planting of the viburnum was attended by allies of the Stryi region's branches chaired by Zeni Khanas, deputy head of the Union of Ukrainian Women Valentyna Sichova and Tanya Potik from Kherson region, Olha Savchyn, Oksana Sokol, Daria Onyskiv, Olha Syatetska, Natalia Yatskiv, Natalia Sorochak, and participants of the III All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference "Folk Art of the Boyko Region: History and Modernity".
A viburnum bush is not just a decoration. It has a deep meaning. It is our spiritual world, our heritage, which represents the spiritual attraction to our native land and traditions.
